The Ottawa Turkish Festival sub committee’s mandate is to produce a festival that is open to the general public, which presents thematically linked program of events and activities, art-form, and Turkish cultural heritage.
The Festival will display Turkish art, folk dance, music and gourmet food, where visitors will get an opportunity to celebrate, learn, and savour Turkish hospitality, culture, heritage and cuisine.
Visitors will be able to browse and buy Turkish products, souvenirs and handicrafts, participate in activities for children, view many authentic demonstrations and performances, sample Turkish cuisine, and do much, much more at the Festival.

A very ancient tradition from eastern Anatolia has been broght to Ottawa to showcase Turkish culture and folklore. Members of the community form a singing group along with musicians that play the ancient "saz", a string instrument. Food is served alongside music in a traditonal atmoshpere. The CTHF has commenced this program in January 2009 following tradition, it is put on a monthly basis. |

The CTHF organizes Turkish language classes in cooperation with Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. The classes are offered from 6:30pm to 9:00pm every Wednesday. Classes take place at our office, 26 Thorncliff Place, Nepean (Bells Corners). Learn basic Turkish grammar and daily simple conversation. Course fee is $137.00 per semester. Community Event Participations |
|
The CTHF participates in the commnity events organized by other institutions, such as NCC's Noon under the Bridge program by local Turkish Folk Music group. This program will take place on the Plaza Bridge in downtown Ottawa, July 23rd, 2009, thhe day befor the launch of Ottawa Turkish Festival.
The CTHF also participated in Asian Heritage Month activites by movie shows (Hersey cok guzel olacak - Everything is going to be allright, 2005) in Main Library on May 30th, 2009. |
